Texas A&M Forest Service received a request for assistance for a fire approximately 3 miles northwest of Bruceville-Eddy, Texas on August 12, at 4:00 pm. The fire is actively burning in grass fields and multiple structures were initially considered threatened. The fire displayed some extreme behavior, with spotting over 1,000 feet ahead of the main body.
Local crews are joined by personnel, heavy equipment, and fire engines resources from Texas A&M Forest Service and Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System. Aviation resources initially responded, but have returned to base due to approaching night. Responders have been able to complete a dozer line around the fire, but are actively improving and patrolling that line due to the extreme behavior seen earlier in the evening.
