The Turkey Fire was detected on July 22. It is located at the south end of the Gila Wilderness and is spreading to the north.

The Turkey Fire started in the headwaters of Spring Canyon near Canyon Hill. It is moving north toward the Gila River.

Significant Events

Activity increased Friday and smoke will be visible from Silver City, Gila and Cliff areas. The fire is being monitored by lookouts and aircraft due to very rugged and inaccessible terrain.

Planned Actions
Check fire progress by aircraft when available and by fire lookout. 
Projected Incident Activity
The fire continues to progress east and back to the north. It is expected to make slope runs when fuels and topography align.
