Incident Overview

Shasta Trinity Forest, South fork Unit assumed the responsibility of 3-9 fire that had spotted over the forest line from the Six Rivers National Forest at 9:00pm, August 17.  The fire is spotting down Bear Canyon, and North and West of Hyampom.

Overnight cooling conditions and the possibility of rain for allow for more overnight humidity, aiding with firefighting efforts by reducing fire activity. Winds today are expected to come from the east in the morning and shift west in the afternoon. The chance of thunderstorms remains today and may bring gusty and erratic winds near thunderstorm areas.

The Pelletreau Fire has dozer and hose line around the perimeter of the 3.5 acres.  Firefighters are actively suppressing the fire.

Sulphur Springs is holding at 30 acres.  Dozer and hose line is around the perimeter.  Firefighters are actively suppressing the fire.

California Incident Management Team 11 (CA-IMT 11)  assumed control of the fire Saturday at 8am.

Size
450 Acres
Fuels Involved

Timber (Litter and Understory)
Brush (2 feet)

Planned Actions
Smokey and hazy conditions will persist with increasing cloud cover and moderated
temperatures in the mid-60s. Persistent wind speeds will reduce through the night, coupled
with downslope and down canyon winds. RH expected to recover slightly overnight, stabilizing
in the mid 50% range. Anticipated fire behavior will remain active overnight with active
spotting occurring.
24 hours:
Predicted activity will be consistent with behavior observed today. Thunderstorm activity
remains a possibility beginning in the early afternoon, which may significantly influence fire
growth with the associated outflow winds. Observed fire behavior, coupled with temperatures
in the low to mid-90s and RH values 20%-30% will aid the fire spread with short and long
range spotting, especially if T-storm activity develops. Fuels remain receptive with higher ERC
values and moderate to heavy dead standing and down fuels from previous fires.
Remarks
All Fires are being Actively Suppressed.
