Incident Overview

The Palmas Fire is located within the Dos Palmas Preserve, public lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management in Riverside County. As of the latest report, the fire has burned 285 acres and is 40% contained (acreage reduced due to more accurate mapping). There are approximately 70 fire personnel working towards full suppression and will begin to mop up interior portions of the fire. Crews from the San Bernardino and Cleveland National Forest are assisting. The public is asked to stay away from the Preserve to allow firefighters to work safely. There is currently no threat to neighboring communities, as the fire is being contained within the preserve.
